Fall '09 Runway Favorites

Today, I decided to do a post on my favorite looks from fall 2009 fashion week. The colors, patterns, and shapes seen in the designs were definetely different than the ones in spring 2009's post (see below). Although I am a fan of bright colors and whismsical patterns, I was really happy with what I saw from the designs I saw. A lot of metallics, military detail, and more refined and classic shapes were part of fall 2009 designs.

BCBG MAZ AZRIA: I really liked the pairing of the dark dresses with the metallic tights--such a nice contrast! I also enjoyed the black on black and gray on gray dresses, they looked so elegant. My favorite look (above) was the black and brown wrap dress with the ruffle trim on the collar.

JASON WU: There were so many things that I liked about Jason Wu's fall line- the prints, the pops of neon, and the intriate details, such as the ruffles and trim. I also liked how some could be worn for day and others for night. My favorite piece in the collection was the cream colored gown with ruffles at the bottom.

MUI MUI: I also really liked Mui Mui's fall line. The shapes were very unique and all of the pieces had a very classic elegance look to them. I loved the printed coats, they were my favorite pieces in the line.

CHLOE: Chloe's fall line was filled with luxe fabrics and romantic shapes. Bows, ruffles, and military detail looked rich against the pastels/black color scheme.

LUELLA: Once again, Luella was my favorite of the season! I loved the military detailed dress with the ruffles modeled by Karlie Kloss. A lot of the pieces were dark, with touches of metallics and contrasted with bold colored shoes. Some of the pieces had a masculine/feminine thing going on, that I really liked. Also, the accessories gave this collection an edgy feel.

Spring '09 Runway Favorites

Since I just started this blog, I figured I would start with a wall post of spring 2009 fashion week. Above, are a few of my favorite looks. I think that in this season, a lot of designers used bold colors and pattern as part of there looks, although silhouettes differed.

THAKOON: This collection was very unique, and I really liked the black on black floral designs. Also, the strawberry printed dresses were extremely cute as well as the sequined dresses. Overall, the collection was very classic and glamorous with a whimsical appeal.

ELEY KISHIMOTO: This collection was filled with whismsical designs and bold colors. I really liked how the tye-dye tights were paired with the different patterned skirt and shirt. Although there was a lot a patterns going on, the looked was pulled together nicely with a simple, clean silhouette.

ANNA SUI: Anna Sui's spring collection was very bold, in both it's patterns and designs. A lot of the pieces were accesoried with colorful jewerly to match the designs. I think that over, this collection had a folkloric vibe to it. I really enjoyed the plaid, sequins, floral, stripes, seen in the clothes.

LUELLA: This was definetely my favorite collection. I loved how that ladylike, feminine pieces were in candy-colored hues and floral patterns. Also, the layers of ruffles, bright tweed, and quirky accessories added to the charm of Luella's collections.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS: I liked how this collection had an urban, modern flair. The colors were kept simple in most pieces, but were accessoried with bright touches. Also, a few pieces were in simple florals. Some of my favorite pieces included the military jacket, the purple floral mini dress, the white ruffled dress with the coral sash, and the jean mini dress.

Ron Galella Photographs Jackie O

Recently, I was reading a book about Jackie O, who infact I was named after, and was interested on how she enchanted people of many different walks of life, including, Ron Galella, the father of "paparazzi". Galella became obsessed with photographing Jackie, who often would wear dark sunglasses or put her hands in front of her face to lessen the value of the pictures he would take. Although he would sometimes photograph her in a crowd, she always seemed to radiate a special glow. Keep reading--I will soon post a collage of pictures that illustrates Jackie's sense of style that still inspires people today. Thanks for visiting!
